Aboriginal, Child, Youth and Family Strategies (ACYFS)


ACYFS is a program funded through The Department of Family and Community Services that Kyogle Family Support offer to the Kyogle LGA. This program is targeted at Aboriginal children 0-8 years, parents/carers of Aboriginal children aged 0-8 years. This program provides the following activities within the LGA:

Aboriginal Supported playgroups that provide:

  • Healthy living initiatives

  • Child safety initiatives

  • Parenting skills/child development initiatives

  • Early literacy and or numeracy support

  • Transition to school support

Aboriginal Family Workers that provide:

  • Parenting programs

  • Community capacity building

  • Partnerships and networks

  • Information and referral

  • Case Management that includes: home visits, centre based visits, outreach and telephone support

  • Group based intervention such as support groups and family counselling
